2020 XTBG Scientific Paper Writing Online Workshop
 
 
Dates: 8 - 12 July 2020 (5 days), as the instructor is in London, the online lecture will be 14:30 - 18:00 every day (Beijing Time)

About the workshop:  The writing workshop aims to teach the knowledge and skills needed to publish scientific papers in international journals. It will cover the entire process, from preparing to submitting a scientific research paper, and dealing with reviewer comments. The course will consist of on-line lectures, discussions, and one-to-one help with participants' own papers (via email).  
 
Schedule: 
Day1: Introduction: modern scientific publishing and scientific writing overview; Literature searches.
Day2: Titles; Introductions; Abstracts
Day3: Methods; Results; Tables and Figures. 
Day4: Discussions; References, Supplementary Materials etc.
Day5: Writing scientific English; Manuscript submission; Responding to reviewers

Requirements for applicants:  The workshop is targeted at young scientists from Chinese Universities or Research Institutes (PhD candidates and early career researchers) with limited previous experience of publishing scientific papers in international journals. 
 
Instructor: Professor Richard Corlett, PI of Biodiversity Research Group, Centre for Integrative Conservation of XTBG, Expert on terrestrial ecology and biodiversity conservation, plant-animal interactions, and the impacts of climate change.
 
Student number: not more than 30 students (20 with and 10 without manuscripts that will need help to improve during the workshop, respectively.)

* Manuscripts that will need help to improve during the workshop include draft manuscript or rejected papers that need to be re-written.
